Ground drones: ARX Robotics shows Combat Gereon UGV with Valhalla weapon station

For the first time, ARX Robotics is making one of its ground drones combat-capable: Combat Gereon carries the Loki weapon station from Valhalla Turrets and is meant to make first contact robotically. The system is on show at DSEI UK 2025 in London.

Combat Gereon, an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), is the first combat-capable integration of the Gereon RCS – unveiled by German ground drones specialist ARX Robotics. It is intended to improve the survival chances of soldiers in high-risk environments: first contact is made robotically, and the distance between troops and the enemy grows.

Combat Gereon emerged from a European-Ukrainian development campaign. In Ukraine, ARX cooperated with Frontline and continuously incorporated direct feedback from end users with frontline experience. In parallel, ARX advanced the project with its European partner Valhalla in order to achieve certification and implementation in the procurement processes of European armed forces. Experience from the front thus flows directly into the product. At the same time, the software-defined architecture allows rapid adaptation to dynamic conditions on the battlefield while complying with European procurement and security guidelines.

Combat Gereon premieres at DSEI UK 2025 in London (9 to 12 September). There, the platform can be seen with Loki, the remotely operated weapon station from Valhalla Turrets. The integration underlines that the platform can accept modular mission payloads while remaining fully interoperable within the ARX fleet ecosystem based on Mithra OS.

Modular ground drones as an operational advantage

Marc Wietfeld, co-founder and CEO of ARX Robotics, said: “Combat Gereon is the next step in our mission to protect soldiers and strengthen Europe's defence resilience.” He continued: “The system extends the range of applications of our autonomous platform into the combat-capable domain while remaining true to our core focus: increasing survivability at the front and enabling European armed forces to operate more effectively and at lower risk.”
