About Textron Systems

Textron Systems is part of the segment of the same name within Textron Inc., the US group whose brands also include Cessna, Beechcraft and Bell. Its press releases are issued from Hunt Valley, Maryland. The segment brings together Textron Systems, Howe & Howe, Lycoming and the Airborne Tactical Advantage Company (ATAC), and works across air, land, sea, propulsion, weapon systems, electronic systems and test, training and simulation.

In the air, its current uncrewed product is the Aerosonde Mk. 4.7, a vertical take-off and landing system that the company also operates on a contractor-owned, contractor-operated basis. In August 2026 Naval Air Systems Command awarded Textron two task orders for drone ISR services supporting the US 7th Fleet, and in December 2025 Textron announced a contract for three Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 aircraft for Tantita Security Services in Nigeria, intended for the protection of oil and gas infrastructure. The company also developed the RQ-7B Shadow tactical UAS, which the US Army retired in 2024 after more than 20 years of service.

On land, subsidiary Howe & Howe builds the RIPSAW family of robotic ground vehicles; in December 2025 Sweden became the first European customer for the hybrid-electric RIPSAW M3. At sea, Textron developed the Common Unmanned Surface Vehicle (CUSV), which was adapted into the US Navy’s Mine Countermeasures Unmanned Surface Vehicle (MCM USV). In April 2025 NAVSEA awarded the company a contract worth up to USD 100 million for MCM USV software and payload integration, and in January 2026 Textron introduced the Multi Mission Uncrewed Surface Vessel (MMUSV) as the fifth generation of the CUSV design.
