Drone manufacturer Nordic Drones goes to Patria: agreement signed for all shares

Patria has signed an agreement to purchase the entire share capital of Nordic Drones Oy. The Finnish company is one of the leading providers of drone pilot training and is also a drone manufacturer for professional use.

To date, Nordic Drones has developed and delivered complete solutions and user training for more than 100 companies and organisations – for example for various kinds of technical aerial imaging as well as for mapping, measurement, inspection, monitoring and public-authority tasks. The parties are not disclosing the value of the acquisition.

Growth strategy: Patria banks on the drone manufacturer

According to a recent Patria press release, the acquisition fits the group's growth strategy, which requires substantial investment in product development, innovation and partnerships. The deal is not yet final, however: the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (TEM) must first approve it, and the approval process is already under way. If the acquisition goes ahead as expected, the company's obligations to customers, employment relationships and other commitments will remain unaffected.

Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria's Finnish division, commented: “Nordic Drones' know-how in manufacturing professional drone systems for numerous customers is an excellent and logical reinforcement of Patria's range of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), from which our joint and new customers in Finland and internationally will benefit in all areas of operation.”

Petari Sorri, managing director of Nordic Drones, spoke in similar terms: “We have succeeded in developing internationally unique product systems with great market potential. We believe that Patria is the best partner to drive our internationalisation. Together with Patria, we will be able to offer our customers even broader and more interesting solutions in the future.”
